How WZAA 106.9 LPFM A Radio Station in Jeffersonville, Ohio- Keeps the Community Connected

WZAA 106.9 is a Low Power FM non-profit community radio station- located and operated in Jeffersonville, Ohio. The station provides educational information such as: emergency warnings or public service announcements, alongside our free music steam and regularly scheduled programming.

They operate at a service range of 100 watts; meaning our average “over the air” reach will span up to a 3.5 mile radius- which is deemed the LPFM standard by the Federal Communications Commission, better known as the FCC.

The FCC has very strict guidelines on both obtaining and maintaining licensure of an LPFM station. As pertains to new applicants, construction permits must be submitted that prove non-conflict of airwave space to existing stations, and applications will only be accepted during designated time frames.

While the national news is always important, WZAA is a community station that aims to deliver the best and latest developments in local stories. Opting to cover High school graduationsCollege athletics, and even local political events such as: The 2A (Second Amendment) Movement and The Clinton County Elections. The ongoing weekly broadcast lineup consists of sports via Campus Nation, current event coverage, outdoors programming, and entertainment content.

In order to expand our reach and potential listenership, WZAA has also made the traditional over the air stream available via the WZAALPFM website. Where the audience can still enjoy the same oldies hits, public service announcements at the top of the hour, jingles, and radio talk show line-up; simply streaming from their laptop or smartphone! Here they can also watch the talk shows, as they are accompanied by video.

According to the Pew Research Center, “more than 46% of social media users share news stories or have discussed a news issue or event” via social network site. As a news organization-WZAA finds it critical to stay both engaged and relevant with our audience when it comes to both gathering and delivering headlines. Therefore, we have a social media presence across multiple platforms for users to connect with us.

“Freedom of the Press, particularly during challenging times like we are experiencing today, make local public radio critical to keep our listeners engaged and informed” said CEO of WZAA, Rick Phillips.
